Education
Specialization in printmaking and drawing at KHiO Department of Arts and Crafts. My practice seeks to be relational and inclusive, rooted in inclusive feminist international relations theory. I believe that art speaks everyone’s language, across boundaries, and that our shared ability to dream of and then work together for a better tomorrow is dependent on free artistic expression.
Basic courses in drawing, painting, sculpture, intaglio and woodcut printmaking. Selected courses: Composition, intaglio printing, professionalization in graphics and new media. In my individual internships I have explored aquatint.
Interdisciplinary studies focusing on analyzing, understanding and discussing international events and conflict lines, conflict resolution and peacebuilding, as well as international governing bodies, organizations and their work. Average grade B.
My bachelor’s thesis examines how the language in UN documents affects the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325 (SCR 1325, which is intended to ensure women’s participation and protection in conflict and peace processes). Based on feminist theory and discourse analysis, UN reports from 2021 are analyzed and compared with Nadine Puechguirbal’s study from 2010. Through a feminist discourse analysis, it is identified how patriarchal power structures and hegemonic masculinity are perpetuated in the UN’s language, and how this inhibits women’s real influence. The thesis concludes that despite increased awareness and women’s participation in some contexts, gender equality in international politics mainly occurs at a symbolic level. To achieve actual change, a deeper transformation of both structural and discursive practices in peace and security work must occur. The assignment received a grade of A.
